My motivation for a portrait was my love for Kobe. I wanted to immortalize her on canvas, along with her spirit and personality.
I heard about Kevin through testimonials from others. Kevin came very highly recommended by people I knew at the time and I also had the benefit of seeing the work he had done for these people, as well as seeing portraits he'd painted that were in the Doberman Quarterly magazine. His portraits of his own dog, Jake, were astoundingly beautiful! The portrait of Jake, watching fish in the water, will forever be embedded in my memory.
At the time, money was somewhat a factor because I was not as financially comfortable as I am today. At the time, I had to commission a painting that I could afford and so I went with Kobe's head. Kevin graciously painted her sitting in a field of flowers.
